Brawl at the American Bowl Championship

The season for the Santa Monica College Corsairs and the East Los Angeles College Huskies ended with pushing, shoving and a whole lot of shouting at one of another.  At the conclusion of the rematch from week two of the season, players from both teams got into a heated scuffle during the handshake line after ELAC’s 42-28 win over SMC in the American Bowl Championship.  Police and coaches struggled to keep the players separated but after about 5 minutes the police and coaches had the players contained.  Santa Monica College Police Department locked down the locker room area on the SMC side until ELAC players, coaches and fans vacated the area.

Project Manager of [SMC] Athletics Joe Cascio, said “It was an unfortunate incident and a very unfortunate way to end what was otherwise a great season.” The league commissioner will review the incident and make a report in two weeks.  The SMC Police reported no injuries occurred.
