Brentwood advances to the 2nd round after dominating half

Venice stuns San Pedro with late touchdown

Channel Islands at Santa Monica High School – High School Football

First round of the CIF football playoffs were played on Friday, November 18, 2011 across the state of California.  Channel Islands High School from Oxnard, CA traveled south on the PCH to take on Santa Monica High School.  In a close battle but the superior SAMO Vikings pulled out the victory to advance to the next round and end Channel Islands season.

Westchester @ Washington

Weschester defeated Washington High School 67-58 and advance to the City Section Final against Taft.  Westchester will be playing for their third time for the City Title in the last three years.

San Pedro @ University Basketball

David Nwaba of University High School (Uni) lifts the Wildcats to a 44-42 victory over San Pedro High School Thursday night in a Division 2 playoff game.  Uni moves onto the finals of the City Section.

Venice vs Crenshaw CIF Semifinals Playoffs

Venice High School traveled to Crenshaw High School for a chance to play in the City Section finals of the CIF playoffs.  Quarterback Dean Sarabia of Venice completed the first pass of the game for 42 yards to Frank Murray.  Three plays later Venice found the endzone to score the first points of the game.  These points would be the last for Venice until the fourth quarter and after Crenshaw put up 63 points on the scoreboard.

Venice’s offense was not sharp on the night and committed numerous turnovers.  Crenshaw capitalized on the turnovers and turned them into points led by Blue Chip recruit De’anthony Thomas who has committed to University of Southern California.  Crenshaw moves onto to play Caron in the City Chamionship on December 11th at 1pm in the Coliseum.
