Citrus College paid a visit to Santa Monica College on Saturday, February 18, 2012, the last regular season day of the 2011-2012 basketball season. Citrus was victorious in both the games: Women’s (57-41) and Men’s (86-75). While the loss ended the season for the women’s team, the men’s team managed to earn a spot in the playoffs.
Always working on something new, this time I was switching between two cameras with different lenses: a 300mm lens and a 70-200mm lens. The 300mm was for action on the far side and the 70-200 for the near side. It’s not an easy thing to switch between the two. Timing is key and my timing was off, especially during fast breaks headed in my direction. There were moments I’d miss while changing cameras. Time for me to hit the gym to keep practicing!

Tale of Two Halves – Fairfax at Pali
Category Basketball, CA, California, CIF, Donovan Johnson, Fairfax High School, Landon Drew, Los Angeles, Palisades, Palisades Charter High School, Western League
Expectations were high for the showdown between conference foes Fairfax and Palisades Friday night. Ultimately the game lived up to expectations but took over 20 minutes of game time to get there. Poor shooting by Fairfax in the first half saw them trail 41-17. Midway through the third quarter Fairfax suddenly found their stroke and scored in bunches. Pali’s lead of 20+ points was a mere single digit lead late in the fourth quarter. The crowd, fully involved in the game, remained standing until the last possession of the game – Fairfax with the ball trailing by two points. Unable to connect from behind the three point line for the win, Pali players and fans celebrated their 64-60 victory. Pali remains undefeated in the Western League.
