I have been living at summer camp since June 11, 2011 working 10+ hours days. This leaves little time to blog but enough time to snap photos around camp. Leap of Faith is the first post of many from my summer.
One of the favorite camp activities the campers participate in is the High Ropes Courses. There was enough time for the staff to climb on the course on a hot Monday afternoon. Cliff the lead facilitator on the ropes course let me climb before Mike M. to snap photos from 30 feet above.
As a child I had a fear of the rope course but that changed with age and the experience of climbing so many times. With the harness bucked around my waist I climbed up the pole looking to capture the moment. The hardest part of getting into place without question is standing up on the pole. There is about a foot and half of room to stand on top of the pole.
Upon standing on the pole; I quickly jumped off while holding onto the steel cable pulling myself past the trapeze bar to get into position. My goal was to capture Mike jumping off the pole through the trapeze bar.
Dangling middle air is no problem. Having the camera made it easier to forget that I was 30 feet above the ground.
My position was so good Mike’s momentum took him straight into the camera’s position. Here is the result.
